Chronicles of Modern China ("CMC") is an independent, non-profit historical archive. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information generated when you visit this website.

Our guiding principle is data minimisation: we collect only what is necessary for the site to function, we do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not conduct behavioural tracking or build commercial profiles.

Original bilingual commentary text produced by CMC is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, permitting free reuse and adaptation with attribution under the same licence. Third-party source documents remain the copyright of their respective owners; CMC cites them without claiming ownership.

Data Security

The CMC website is served entirely over HTTPS with TLS encryption provided by Vercel. Because we store no user accounts or payment data, the risk of a meaningful data breach is minimal. If you discover a security vulnerability, please contact us at the address below.

Your Rights

If you believe we hold data relating to you, you may request access to or deletion of it at any time. Since CMC collects only anonymised log data, it is generally not possible to link logs to an individual, but we will do our best to accommodate any reasonable request.
